Student Ambassador Retreat was the highlight of January. It was supposed to be a Saturday/Sunday event, but I was invited up early on Friday with a few other members for an extra day. I felt really special and in the days leading up to retreat I was super pumped! Anyway, when we arrived in Tahoe I was overwhelmed with Lake Tahoe's beauty in winter... I was a little disappointed that we weren't there to explore! Retreat was a really great experience and I got to know people in the organization a lot better. I kinda feel like it was life-changing for me because I realized aspects of myself that I would like to change for the better. Also, while there, I discovered my interest to move up in the organization. Even though Christine made me join two semesters ago, I've always enjoyed being an Ambassador for the University. I like showing off our beautiful campus and influencing the students who come to us for a tour because I remember how hard choosing a college was. Plus, I like being the center of attention and I feel important when I give tours because they have to listen to me hahaha. Being an Ambassador makes me happy and I'm lucky I get to be apart of such a great organization.
Before retreat, we were all split into "airbands" groups and we practiced our dance grooves and showed them off at retreat. My group did a Lady Gaga/Jersey Shore/Bollywood Snuggie Fashion Show! Needless to say, it was definitely epic!
I also celebrated my birthday recently. Not just any ol' birthday, either! It was my 21st birthday :) Anyway, the actual week of my birthday I celebrated it with Sean and his family with a nice dinner. Thursday I went out with Sean to dinner at my favorite restaurant (Indian Kabaab & Curry) and went to Atlantis for a few drinks (we had a cake shot and cherry lemon drops). This past weekend I went out with a bunch of my friends from Ambassadors and had a few drinks and went dancing. I had my first Blue Moon Beer(s), Dirty Shirley(s), Jello Shot, and Carmel Camel! It was very fun AND I didn't throw up the next day, woo!
I want to go to Coachella, but it's too expensive... I am in love with Local Natives (a band) and they are playing there with a few of my other favorites... and Bonnaroo (but I don't want to go to that as of right now!)
